Vintage Talking Heads at The Greek Theater and Bow Wow Wow at The Roxy Posters 1980s

Vintage 1980’s Treasures has My Forever Treasures offering rare venue posters. The Talking Heads at The Greek Theater & Bow Wow Wow at The Roxy are 1980’s favorites. The Talking Heads was an American rock band founded in 1975 in N.Y.C. and performed until 1991. The band featured former art students David Byrne (lead vocal & guitar) Chris Franz (drums) Tina Weymouth (bass) and Jerry Harrison (keyboards, guitar.) They were one of the most critically acclaimed bands of the 1980’s. Talking Heads helped to pioneer new wave music by integrating elements of punk, art rock, and world music with avant-garde sensibilities and an anxious clean-cut look.   Their debut album in 1977 received positive reviews and they subsequently collaborated w. producer Brian Eno on a trio of experimental and critically acclaimed releases. The band hit it’s commercial peak in 1983, w. the U.S. Top 10 hit “Burning Down The House,” and released a concert film “Stop Making Sense” directed by Jonathan Demme. They released several more albums including best selling “Littler Creatures,” in 1985. They were inducted into the R. & R. Hall of Fame in 2002. “Psych Killer,” “Life During Wartime,” and “Once in A Lifetime” are among the […]

Reggae Star Bob Marley Official First Day Cover Stamps From Jamaica 1981

Bob Marley is the “Reggae King.” He’s the Jamaican musician, singer & songwriter most responsible for reggae’s international success. A pioneer who’s earliest fame came with good friends Peter Tosh & Bunny Wailer as Bob Marley & The Wailers. “Simmer Down” was one of their ska classics. Bob drove a BMW not because he loved the car. It’s because he loved the letters BMW. They stood for Bob Marley & the Wailers.   Bob resurrected an old time 60’s tune and turned it into a soft stoned love poem. “We’ll be together with a roof right over our head.” “We’ll share the shelter of my single bed.” This would be a popular theme as several Marley songs lead to his single bed. He’s fathered 11 children. Rumor is there’s many more. But no one’s done “The Math!” After solo careers for Bob and these Wailers, he achieved fortune, fame and an idolization that’s as powerful today as when he was gone in 1981.   He’s sold 15 million albums in the U.S. and 25 million worldwide. He continues to outsell most reggae artists 30 years after his passing. Bob Marley’s estate earned $21 million last year Marley’s huge reggae influence […]

Cinema has pretty cool actors from Johnny Depp to Sean Penn but in his era, late 1960’s-2012 Jack reigns supreme. He’s not only chosen wisely in his films but maintained the persona that blurs the lines between studied intellectual and Hell’s Angel. His body of work as actor, producer, director and writer has almost defined American film art in the latter 20th century. When they talk about Jack in Hollywood, there is “no other.” He’s done it all authentically with an overall accomplishment of elegant discretion.   From his career-altering role in “Five Easy Pieces”1969, “Chinatown,” “Cuckoo’s Nest,” “As Easy As It Gets,” “A Few Good Men,” “Terms of Endearment,” […]

Vintage “Boy Meets Girl” 1938 Promotional Film Pinback with James Cagney, Marie Wilson and Pat O’Brien

“Boy Meets Girl,” is a 1938, Screwball comedy film, starring James Cagney, Marie Wilson and Pat O’Brien. James Cagney and Pat O’Brien give Hollywood an affectionate chuck under the chin (and a comic kick in the butt) in this film making spoof based on the same-titled 669-performance Broadway hit by Bella and Samuel Spewack (My Favorite Wife, Kiss Me, Kate) and zestfully directed by Lloyd Bacon (42nd Street). In roles based on colorful screenwriters Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur, Cagney and O’Brien fling words around like hot potatoes as they invent boy-meets-girl story lines to please a fading cowboy star (Dick Foran) and a huffy producer (Ralph Bellamy). Their latest idea has a new wrinkle – revenge against the cowboy and the exec. And the madcap way they pull it off places Boy Meets Girl alongside such deft 1930’s jabs at Tinseltown as Once in a Lifetime and Bombshell. Joining the fun in the role of a beleaguered movie premiere emcee is Ronald Reagan. Cagney and O’Brien’s deception and scheming, get them fired and re-hired enough times, to turn out a successful script. Great energy and zany laughs, are this film’s trademarks. My Forever Treasures 1930’s film vault, offers this […]
