Vintage 1980’s Treasures has My Forever Treasures offering rare venue posters. The Talking Heads at The Greek Theater & Bow Wow Wow at The Roxy are 1980’s favorites. The Talking Heads was an American rock band founded in 1975 in N.Y.C. and performed until 1991. The band featured former art students David Byrne (lead vocal & guitar) Chris Franz (drums) Tina Weymouth (bass) and Jerry Harrison (keyboards, guitar.) They were one of the most critically acclaimed bands of the 1980’s. Talking Heads helped to pioneer new wave music by integrating elements of punk, art rock, and world music with avant-garde sensibilities and an anxious clean-cut look.
Their debut album in 1977 received positive reviews and they subsequently collaborated w. producer Brian Eno on a trio of experimental and critically acclaimed releases. The band hit it’s commercial peak in 1983, w. the U.S. Top 10 hit “Burning Down The House,” and released a concert film “Stop Making Sense” directed by Jonathan Demme. They released several more albums including best selling “Littler Creatures,” in 1985. They were inducted into the R. & R. Hall of Fame in 2002. “Psych Killer,” “Life During Wartime,” and “Once in A Lifetime” are among the 500 songs that shaped Rock and Roll.
Bow Wow Wow is an English new wave band created by manager Malcolm McLaren (the force behind the Sex Pistols.) in 1980. The band consisted of members of Adam and the Ants and teenager Annabella Lwin, the featured Anglo-Burmese singer and song writer. Their debut album in 1980 had their 1st U.K. top 10 hit, “Go Wild in the Country.” The band’s music was characterized by a danceable new wave sound that drew on a Burundi beat as well as suggestive lyrics squealed into the mic, by their teenage lead singer. Their biggest hit was 1982’s “I Want Candy.” Controversy of Annabella nude on their 1st two albums was their trademark.
Today, David Byrne is a superstar. These vintage venue posters (14″x 22″) mark a 1980’s new wave cache. Framed on your wall, is where they belong. Add a New Wave To Your Wall. 😉 No doubt.
