Vintage “Boy Meets Girl” 1938 Promotional Film Pinback with James Cagney, Marie Wilson and Pat O’Brien

“Boy Meets Girl,” is a 1938, Screwball comedy film, starring James Cagney, Marie Wilson and Pat O’Brien. James Cagney and Pat O’Brien give Hollywood an affectionate chuck under the chin (and a comic kick in the butt) in this film making spoof based on the same-titled 669-performance Broadway hit by Bella and Samuel Spewack (My Favorite Wife, Kiss Me, Kate) and zestfully directed by Lloyd Bacon (42nd Street). In roles based on colorful screenwriters Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur, Cagney and O’Brien fling words around like hot potatoes as they invent boy-meets-girl story lines to please a fading cowboy star (Dick Foran) and a huffy producer (Ralph Bellamy). Their latest idea has a new wrinkle – revenge against the cowboy and the exec. And the madcap way they pull it off places Boy Meets Girl alongside such deft 1930’s jabs at Tinseltown as Once in a Lifetime and Bombshell. Joining the fun in the role of a beleaguered movie premiere emcee is Ronald Reagan. Critics and fans agree. The Rolling Stones are the Greatest R. & R. Band of All Time. The group was formed, in 1962-3 by multi-instrumentalist Brian Jones and keyboardist Ian Stewart. The Stones, were Mick Jagger, lead singer, Keith Richards lead guitarist, Bill Wyman bass player and Charlie Watts drummer. All members, except drummer Charlie Watts sang Backup Vocals. Ian Stewart, was dropped from the group in 1963. Brian Jones, was the most versatile in the band. He played guitar, keyboards, harmonica, bass, saxophone, sitar on “Painted Black,” and the marimbas on, “Symphony for the Devil.” Brian, wanted the Rolling Stones to be a cover blues band. A great musician, but a weak songwriter, Brian found himself, with no defined place in the band. Mick and Keith, were outstanding songwriters and ultimately, the Rolling Stones became Their Band. From the start, there were tremendous problems. Brian’s hard feelings, led to his overwhelming drug addiction. The tension, and animosity within the Rolling Stones, were Brian Jones responsibility. Elvis Presley His Hand In Mine and Sun Record Large Pinbacks

In 1960, Elvis Presley recorded “His Hand In Mine,” his first gospel album. He always loved gospel music. Sometimes, before a show or recording session, Elvis would sing gospel songs, to warm up his voice. This album was special to Elvis, as he had Boots Randolph on sax and Floyd Cramer on keyboards, join his trio and the Jordanaires. Only gospel classics were chosen. “His Hand In Mine,” “If We Never Meet Again,” and “In My Father’s House,” are a few of the highlights. The song “Surrender” wasn’t included on the album, but offered as a single. “Surrender” proved to be, Elvis first number 1 hit song of 1961. The gospel genre, met with great success. It expanded his audience, & there would be more. Critics praised the kindness in his voice. This gave E.P fans, another reason to love him. Don’t Be Cruel and Hound Dog Vintage Elvis Pinbacks

On July 2, 1956, Elvis Presley recorded, both “Don’t Be Cruel” in 28 takes and “Hound Dog” in 31 takes. His input was evident on both. Scotty Moore, Bill Black and D.J. Fontana backed him. Elvis played rhythm guitar and sang. The Jordanaires sang backup vocals . Although Otis Blackwell wrote the song, he gave Elvis co-writing credit and also 50% of the publishing rights. As the song was released on Elvis Presley’s publishing company Hill and Range. This was the first, of many lucrative deals, Colonel Parker demanded. Parker guaranteed one million sales, for Elvis recording a song. In return, Elvis Presley would receive co-writing credit and 50% of the publishing rights. This worked out great for everyone on “Don’t Be Cruel.” It sold 4 million copies in 1956, and 6 million, by 1961. Elvis sang the song, on all 3 Ed Sullivan Television performances. Twice in Sept. 1956, and again Jan. 1957. “Don’t Be Cruel” was the “A” side song, of the dual hit single. “Hound Dog” was the “B” side. “Hound Dog” was written by Lieber and Stoller, who retained their publishing rights. In Dec. 1956, the premiere of the film “Don’t Knock The Rock” took place. This was the follow-up to the very successful, Bill Halley and the Comets film “Rock Around the Clock. ” A disc jockey in this 1956 music film, presents a rock concert. He wants to show parents, rock and roll music, won’t turn their children into juvenile delinquents. Haley and the Comets, and other hit makers are part of the stage show. “Don’t Knock The Rock” is highlighted by Little Richard’s debut performance of “Tutti Fruitti” and “Long Tall Sally.” Promotional Pinback, “Don’t Knock the Rock” is taken from the film title. “You Rock and I’ll Roll” is a phrase heard from fans of the music. Both are large 3.5.” and extremely rare, especially early rock and roll treasures. For the collector of vintage, museum quality rock memorabilia.
