This medical heart throb fought with his superiors.   Ahead of his time. Vince Edwards was nominated for a 1962 Emmy Award for Best Leading Actor in a Drama Series. His superior Dr. Zorba warned him, “Your need to always be right, will be your undoing Ben Casey.” Zorba was wrong for all 6 years the series ran. In 1922, the Woodmen of the World organization believed, radio would be the medium of the future for advertising.  They pioneered their Omaha radio station WOW, with advertising, as the initial motivation.  The station’s first affiliation was with NBC.  Over a period of time,  WOW also worked with CBS and ABC .   The station grew quickly, becoming the most successful in the Midwest.  WOW  achieved notoriety, with their All American niche. It now could be heard within a 300 mile radius.  During World War 2,  WOW’s “The Army Hour War Program” was one of it’s highest rated shows.  It’s mix of country music, news, agricultural shows and national favorites like Abbott and Costello, Information Please, Dinah Shore and Bing Crosby had the […]
