Happy Birthday Champ Muhammad Ali The Greatest of All Time

It’s Muhammad Ali’s birthday. Today we celebrate the life of the most loved and recognized man on earth. The Heavyweight Champion who possessed a rare combination of love, respect, generosity, smart as could be, with a magical sense of humor above and beyond what made the world smile!   In and out of the boxing ring Ali was the fastest. He’d always be the first to declare he was “The Greatest Champion of All Time!” It’s true! Muhammad Ali vs. George Foreman Rumble in the Jungle 1974 Pennant

In 1974, 32 year old Muhammad Ali, fought 25 year old Champion, George Foreman, for his Heavyweight Crown. The Bout took place in Zaire, Africa. It was forever known, as “The Rumble in the Jungle.” On March 8, 1971 , Ali lost a unanimous decision, to Champion Joe Frazier. Both fighters entered the ring undefeated. This Bout was known as, “The Fight of the Century.” Foreman, ultimately won Frazier’s crown, in a 2 round Tko.   Foreman had battered, both Frazier & Ken Norton, in 2 round Tkos ! These were, the only boxers to beat Ali. As a result, George Foreman, was a 7-1 favorite, to demolish Muhammad Ali as well. Muhammad was famed for his speed and technical skills, while George’s raw power, was his greatest strength. To eliminate, fighting at close range, which favored Foreman, in the 2nd round Ali changed tactics.   Ali frequently, began to lean against the ropes and cover up, letting Foreman punch his arms and body. ( A strategy Ali, later dubbed “The Rope-A-Dope.”) As a result, Foreman spent his energy throwing punches, that either missed or were deflected by Ali. Muhammad took every opportunity, to hit George’s face, with short straight […]

Muhammad Ali Hand Signed Photo Icon Quote

Muhammad Ali, is a legend for his skills inside the boxing ring. He’s even more admired, for his values outside the ring. Ali has spent his life, as a champion for religious freedom, racial justice and the triumph of principles over expedience. Ali’s philanthropy towards education continues, to make a huge difference. He is genuinely, the “people’s champion.”   Muhammad Ali has been named, The Greatest Athlete of the Last Century. Worldwide, he’s also been named The Most Popular Athlete of the Last Century. The most charismatic boxer, and by his own admission, also “The Prettiest of All Time.” Ali won a Light Heavyweight Gold Medal, in the 1960 Olympics. Now he’s in the Boxing Hall of Fame and has beaten 7 other heavyweights, who are also in the Hall of Fame.   In 1964, Cassius Clay  was 19-0, when as a 7-1 underdog, he defeated champion Sonny Liston for the crown. In their 2nd fight, Clay stopped Liston in the 1st round, to defend his Heavyweight Championship Title. After those fights, Cassius converted to Islam, and changed his name to Muhammad Ali. In his prime, years later, his religious beliefs would have him stripped of his crown. This decision, […]

Vintage Muhammad Ali a.k.a. Cassius Clay vs. Joe Frazier March 8, 1971 Big Screen Boxing Poster

This March 8, 1971, fight was the first between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier. It will be forever called “The Fight of the Century.” Both boxers entered the ring undefeated. To give them equal billing, Ali’s picture is first and Frazier’s name is first as well.  The poster reads Muhammad Ali a.k.a. Cassius Clay in larger print, because this was early use of his new name. It marked, the last time, the name Cassius Clay would appear on a poster. Ali was stripped of the Heavyweight Title, when his new Muslim religion had him not enrolling in the armed forces. Less than a year after this Frazier fight, the Supreme Court overturned the decision that had taken Ali’s Heavyweight Title. Frazier would win this fight. Ali would win their next two epic battles. “MUHAMMAD ALI A.K.A. CASSIUS CLAY” VS. JOE FRAZIER MARCH 8,1971. DIRECT FROM MADISON SQU/ GARDEN N.Y.
