Vintage Souvenir Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Angels Opening Day Dodger Stadium Pennant 1962

My Forever Treasures opens our vintage souvenir baseball pennant collection with a 1962 beauty. Offered just this one time 57 years ago. This is a 1962 Guest of Dodger Stadium Grand Opening prize. The vertical pennant with Dodger blue and Angels red colors is beautiful. It reads “Guest Grand Opening of Dodger Stadium” and “Home of the Dodgers and Angels,” separated by crossed bats and a ball. Below, also in white lettering “April 9,1962.” This would be the the permanent home of the Dodgers and temporary home of the Angels until they had their own ball park.   There was a dedication ceremony. The Angels, a 1961 expansion team would play in their temporary home. 57 years later the stadium is still home to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Dignitaries made welcome speeches and the fans got to watch the Dodgers work out. A ticket had each fan receive food, watch the Dodgers work out and a Souvenir Pennant. My Forever Treasures is pleased to offer this vintage one of a kind prize. Hang it on your wall and offer the beautiful 29″ Pennant as baseball “Eye candy.”

Vintage 6 Day Bike Race Souvenir Pennant Hand Painted Very Old

My Forever Treasures goes back in time to offer our bicycle pennant treasure. The 6 Day Bike Race was the rage in 1870’s Britain. Europeans loved the drama of the endless cycling. This was before automobiles. The public wanted to see a bicycle racer show he was faster than a hound, horse or locomotive. This was also before baseball, basketball & football. 6 continuous days of non-stop riding, put the fans in a frenzy. By 1900, it’s popularity resulted in professional bicycle race winners earning as much as a $1,000 purse or more.   Europe’s successful Berlin 6-Day Bike Race, and endless others had 6-Day Races thriving in the U.S. The Sixers filled arenas in Madison Square Garden, Atlantic City, Boston, Chicago and on. The winner, was the racer who rode the most laps/miles in the specified time.Non-stop racing with as little sleep as necessary had the bike riders employing trainers like in boxing to keep them going. Professional bike riders raced in sprints, chases and elimination rounds as well as the most laps/distance. The best won an unheard of $5,000.   The Sixers brought overwhelming physical demand of the Bike Riders. As little sleep as possible was the call of […]

Muhammad Ali vs. George Foreman Rumble in the Jungle 1974 Pennant

In 1974, 32 year old Muhammad Ali, fought 25 year old Champion, George Foreman, for his Heavyweight Crown. The Bout took place in Zaire, Africa. It was forever known, as “The Rumble in the Jungle.” On March 8, 1971 , Ali lost a unanimous decision, to Champion Joe Frazier. Both fighters entered the ring undefeated. This Bout was known as, “The Fight of the Century.” Foreman, ultimately won Frazier’s crown, in a 2 round Tko.   Foreman had battered, both Frazier & Ken Norton, in 2 round Tkos ! These were, the only boxers to beat Ali. As a result, George Foreman, was a 7-1 favorite, to demolish Muhammad Ali as well. Muhammad was famed for his speed and technical skills, while George’s raw power, was his greatest strength. To eliminate, fighting at close range, which favored Foreman, in the 2nd round Ali changed tactics.   Ali frequently, began to lean against the ropes and cover up, letting Foreman punch his arms and body. ( A strategy Ali, later dubbed “The Rope-A-Dope.”) As a result, Foreman spent his energy throwing punches, that either missed or were deflected by Ali. Muhammad took every opportunity, to hit George’s face, with short straight […]

1939 Golden Gate International Exposition Pennant San Francisco

The 1939, Golden Gate International Exposition, at San Francisco Bay, is an historically unique Exposition. This is one of the few, to open when the world was at war. The Czechoslovakian President, fled to Romania.   In Germany, being a member of Hitler’s Youth Movement, was now mandatory. Poland and The Netherlands mobilized, for the possibility of German invasion. Britain and Germany both sank ships. In the U.S., President F.D.R. declared America’s neutrality. As San Francisco’s, “Portals of the Pacific” Themed, $60 Million International Exposition, opened Feb. 14, 1939.   Unlike the devastation, unfolding in Europe, this International Exposition, offered impressive new Art Deco structures. Lush gardens, dancing water displays, and even a world class Entertainment Theater, awaited excited patrons. Instead of complaining about the war, San Francisco was in a celebratory mood. Honoring, all countries with borders on the Pacific.   This Exposition, believed there would be a peaceful future among all countries. Clark Gable cut the ribbon, opening this great 1939 event ! Benny Goodman “the King of Swing,” had neutral U.S. citizens, dancing all night long.  F.D.R. assured U.S. neutrality in Europe.   In Europe, Germany attacks and occupies Czechoslovakia. The President of Poland flees to Romania. […]

Silent Films With Charlie Chaplin and Harold Lloyd – Souvenirs, Pennants and Memorabilia by My Forever Treasures

Silent films had no synchronized sound, especially no spoken dialogue. In silent film, the dialogue was transmitted through broad gestures, mime and title cards. Combining motion pictures with sound was not possible in this period due to technical challenges. Perfection of the Vitaphone system made “talkies” a reality in the late 1920’s. In just a few years, silent films would stop production. With the invention of Thomas Edison’s Kinetograph, a photo device to capture sequential images and his Kinescope to view them, silent films began. The period 1909-1929 marks it’s place in entertainment history. As these films increased in length, on screen inter-titles were used, to help the audience understand the action and dialogue. Silent film theaters usually had a piano player which added to the atmosphere. Large cities might have an orchestra. Silent films provided the biggest source of employment for musicians. The “talkies” would put musicians on the unemployment lines. In silent films body language and expression was exaggerated. Towards the end of that period, Mary Pickford, Janet Gaynor and Marlene Dietrich chose a more subtle natural approach to acting. As a result, they all made the transition to talkies and became movie stars. Charlie Chaplin was the biggest silent film […]
