Ava Gardner was an American actress and singer. She was signed to a contract with M.G.M. in 1941. Her performance in “The Killers,’ brought about a huge break in her career. Ava was nominated for a Best Actress Academy Award for her work in the 1946 classic “Mogambo.” Gardner appeared in several high-profile films from the 1940’s to the 1970’s, including “Showboat.”(1951) “The Barefoot Contessa.”(1954) “On the Beach.”(1959) “The Night of the Iguana.”(1964.) and many other incredible favorites.
Ava Gardner is listed among A.F.I.’s 25 Greatest Female Stars of Classic Hollywood Cinema. Much of her career was spent as one of motion pictures sexiest, most desired beauties. This “Ultimate Sex Symbol” was romantically linked to Howard Hughes, Ernest Hemingway and Artie Shaw. Her tumultuous marriage to Frank Sinatra ended with Ava offering Sinatra was the love of her life. Many of her male fans considered Ava Gardner, the love of their life.
